After obtaining my master's degree in art history, I worked in the New York City for an art dealer representing top contemporary artists, for artists whose work is colleted by MoMA and The Metropolitan Museum of art, an art magazine, and for White Columns Gallery, a non-profit space for emerging artists. I chose to develop an advisory service for Artists (in contrast to the endeavors of an art advisor, who assists art collectors) because of my true love for the people who devote themselves to a life of producing art. There isn't a clear path for artists, as in other professions, and most universities don't exactly have a very large section in their career development office dedicated to resources for budding artists and arts professionals. After getting my feet wet in the New York art world, I moved to Boston and decided to create PAA so I could focus on nurturing the careers of artists without competing with the dealers who exhibit and sell their work. My goal is to help
artists avoid getting lost in the art-world shuffle. I do this through mentoring, and by providing organizational and administrative supervision and advice, and by sharing valuable lessons learned from having seen the art world from the inside. |
