Gail M. Allen was born in Massachusetts, USA. She spent her formative years drawing and painting the local scenery of farms and fields, with nature as the primary subject for her very early work. Communications and Painting were majored in at Paier College of Art- consequently she spent many years in Illustration, Graphic Design and Art Direction, in New Hampshire and Boston, Massachusetts. Her current fine art, mixed media paintings and prints are a microcosm of her life's experiences; incorporating her love of nature and gardens, spirituality and symbols and incorporating current research on healing artwork.
"As I begin to work at scraping and layering using a variety of mediums, with layers of vibrant, colorful paints, some abstractions develop. I add in intermingling areas of realism and graphic images that create a push-pull effect on the viewer. I have always been intrigued by color and light, and their influence on a subject, as well as our physiology." |
