el Putnam, also known as Emily Lauren Putnam, is a Boston area new media conceptual artist that works predominantly in video, photography, and performance art. Her work is inspired by contemporary sociopolitical issues and events, as well as notions of U.S cultural normativity in the 21st century. She obtained her BA in international relations from Tufts University and BFA from the School of Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. She is currently obtaining her MA in gender/cultural studies from Simmons College, where she is completing her thesis work that examines the role of photography in present-day U.S. tourism to Cuba. When not creating works of art, el Putnam works as a freelance videographer and photographer for the Boston music scene. |
