Sandy
Coleman has been painting and drawing since
childhood. She has enhanced her talent over
the years by taking courses in figurative
painting, the use of color, and still life
drawing at Massachusetts College of Art, RISD,
Cambridge Adult Education Center, and the
Boston Adult Education Center.
The artist paints mainly acrylic works in
a traditional style that is sometimes representative
and other times impressionistic. She loves
bold, bright colors but also explores softer
tones in her work. She incorporates African
design in paintings or plays with symbols
to create a personal language. The artist
also designs and makes beaded jewelry and
creates greeting cards that are works of art
that can be framed.
Sandy Colemans
work has been exhibited at the Attleboro Museum
in Attleboro, Ma., Bostons Copley Plaza,
the Boston Center for Arts Cyclorama, the
Bunting Institute gallery at Radcliffe College
in Cambridge, Ma., and the Brandeis Women
Studies Research Center in Waltham, Ma.
