Rachael E. Wilcox
Sculptor - Boston, MA
I have worked in clay all my life. I started creating functional pottery at the age of six, and today I produce both pottery and sculpture. I have a B.A. in Art History from Wells College, and studied ceramics at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. With over twenty years of experience in ceramics my familiarity with the material gives me the freedom to follow my natural instincts, and explore concepts through imagery.
Some of my more recent accomplishments include a public work for Emanuel Episcopal Church in 2002, a grant from the Museum of Fine Arts in 2004, organizing a showing/fundraiser for the Wellness Center in 2005 and The American Cancer Society in 2006, as well as creating a collaborative series with two other artists titled “Translation” (which was shown at the Brookline Arts Center in June 2007).
In 2006 I also created The Starving Artist Online Gallery, a virtual non-profit art gallery that works to promote, publish, and distribute works by various artists. In my free time I am always looking for new ways to continue the discourse around visual arts, and connecting the public with the artists who produce such work.
