I was born in London, England where I lived with my Mum and sister, Coco. I spent my childhood traveling around the world with bands from the time I was 2 weeks old, alongside my Mum, who is a percussionist. She played with tons of people, including Elton John, The Who, Tom Jones and Dido. I loved being around musicians, gigs and instruments and seeing different places and cultures. Everyone treated me like I was part of the family, so I always felt right being there.
When I was 9, my sister and I moved to Ontario, Canada for school, where we lived with my Dad, who is a musician too! He played keyboards for lots of people including Bad Company and David Gilmore. I went back to England every summer, and would also take a couple of months off from school to go on tour with my Mum whenever I could.
It was always such a lovely contrast going back home to Canada, with all the beautiful farmland, fresh air and open space. (At least where I lived, which was in the middle of nowhere!)
After finishing high school, I decided I needed a change from the cows and pigs, and moved to Boston. I took a job with a small construction company, doing all sorts of things ranging from woodwork and painting to building stone walls, driving excavators and landscaping. I didn't go to school for it, but instead got taught everything hands-on. I had a great time working with fantastic people and learning tons!
Watching my parents go out there, and entertain their fans with such incredible energy and love, got me really excited and I wanted to do something like that as well! I had been thinking about getting into acting for a while, so when I saw an ad for an introductory acting class, I was inspired to go and loved it! Signing up for a class in Boston led me to others in New York, traveling back and forth for classes and acting gigs. |
