Janelle Gilchrist, a native of Stoneham Massachusetts, has trained at the Boston Ballet, Broadway Theater Project, Concord Academy, The Dance Theatre of Harlem, and at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School Conservatory where she received her BFA in dance. While at the Conservatory, she performed numerous times with The Hartford Ballet including Kirk Peterson’s The American Nutcracker at the Hollywood Bowl, and Jean Grand-Maitre’s the Sleeping Beauty at the Bushnell in Hartford Connecticut. Ms Gilchrist has also danced professionally with The New Jersey Ballet, Legends in Concert, Neil Young, Celebrity Cruises, Anna Myer and Dancers, David Parker and the Bang Group’s Nut/Cracked, and has danced the role of Sugar Plum Fairy for Tony William’s The Urban Nutcracker. She has appeared at the following venues: The Inside/Out Theatre at Jacob’s Pillow, Bryant Park, and The new Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater. Ms Gilchrist currently teaches ballet and jazz at the Newport Academy of Ballet, musical theater classes at List Academy of Music and Arts, and creative movement classes at Kinderart in Newport RI.
