I first met Theatre while we were both in high school in Tampa, Florida. She was a bit cold at first: most of my classmates were far more talented onstage than I was. But she warmed up to me, so long as I hid my face. I found a strong passion for stage design and all the work it takes to run a show. You can learn a whole bunch about what makes a good actor from behind a light board. Ask any roadie.
By some very large stroke of luck, I found myself at Brown University. While there, I got to join the cast of IMPROVidence (get it?). With their guidance, I was able to nurture and build those ridiculous and fundamental skills of improv comedy.
Today, I am positively thrilled to be working with BYOI. And after all this, I suppose I could dedicate my work to those early acting teachers who told me to keep my light under the backstage bushel. But that would be mean. Or perfect. Theatre is one sassy broad, after all.
