FPC's Reality Check
Theater Companies (Educational) - Rindge, NH
Let me introduce Reality Check. As a community service project of Franklin Pierce College, we provide a presentation of skits on teen issues at no financial cost to the presenter. We travel to middle schools, high schools, and community functions to present.  Because our college is located in a fairly sparsely populated rural area, we continue to search for new places to perform.
Our skits are very beneficial to students because we talk about issues that are relevant to their age group. Our shows are usually 50-60 minuets long.  The presentation of skits lasts about 30-40 minutes; we use the remainder of the time to introduce ourselves, tell true stories about what has happened to us and why we participate in this program. We do not preach to teens, we simply present real life scenarios, information and statistics, and encourage them to make informed choices.
Because we are only a few years older than most of the teens in our audiences, the students relate well to us; this is one of the elements that makes Reality Check’s presentation hit home. I have found that what we do makes students think about the choices they are making, and prompts them to get help if they find themselves in an uncomfortable situation. We address the following topics and the consequences wrong decisions: Stress, Drunk Driving, Suicide, Safe Sex, Marijuana, Bullying, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Abuse, HIV, the Drug Dealers Perspective, My Face/Internet and Oral Sex.
If you agree that your students or community group will benefit from a Reality Check presentation please contact us to schedule a time and date. Consider this our gift to you, your teens and your community.
