These paintings express the improvisational nature of color, composition, and concept; the direct result of our collaborative effort, Conversations. Unique to this collaboration, we paint together and at the same time on the same surface. We often talk while we paint, but not often about what we paint. We listen to music. Sometimes we drink. We always sit for tea prior to a work session. Svetlana settled here from the former Soviet Union: I grew up in central Massachusetts, yet we have a similar sense of colour, composition, and muse. |
