Acting On Stage:
Bob just played to standing ovations in the original play But for the Grace...Voices of Hunger at Trinity Repertory Company (written and directed by David Eliet and commissioned by the RI Community Food Bank). Prior to that he was The Naked City (five character roles) in the Providence Black Repertory’s World Premiere of Black Maria (directed by Donald King). Recently, he played as Count Johan Kilian von Strack in the hit production of Amadeus at the Berkshire Theatre Festival and as a Guest Artist, playing Teiresias, with the Spingold Theatre Company's production of The Bacchae, both directed by Eric Hill. Just prior to that he played Andrew Undershaft in The Theatre of a Two-Headed Calf's highly successful production of Major Barbara at La MaMa E.T.C. in New York. He originated … and then you go on. An Anthology of the Works of SAMUEL BECKETT at Perishable Theatre in Providence, RI and in its subsequent acclaimed runs at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge, MA, Off-Broadway in New York City, and selected dates on tour. Other recent appearances are: Providence Black Repertory as Louis in Sam Shepard's Suicide in Bb; Detective-Sergeant J. du Preez in Statements After an Arrest Under the Immorality Act at the 2004 New York Fringe Festival; Creon in the US premiere of David Eliet's Humboldt Award winning play, Ismene; And Then..., two one-act plays by David Eliet, at the Carriage House Theatre in Providence, RI. He also performed at Perishable Theatre as The Storyteller in the Oana Maria Cajal - Mark Lerman collaboration of The Long Journey to Whereto, and was featured in the monologue, "Speaker’s Head," as part of Three One-Acts by Aishah Rahman, also at Perishable Theatre.
Acting On Film & TV:
Bob played the title character in "A Lively Experiment," a film biography of John Clarke, one of the founders of Rhode Island, which is now having public showings. Also in distribution is Mike Plunkett’s short film "Mary Mary," in which Bob has a featured role. He has completed filming as a lead in "Sleep: A Novel," written and directed by Broto Chakrabarti, currently in post-production. Also in post-production is "Herbeast Comes to Life," in which he plays Barry Berenson, the slightly damaged therapist. On national screens, Bob was seen as Charlie Gueno in the Showtime original series "Brotherhood," and played the Professor in Disney’s "Underdog."
Other:
In addition to the above, he has played blues harmonica since age 14 and can be heard on the score for Menopause Mama as well as live in Black Maria. Bob's work was featured in the November, 2002 issue of Rhode Island Monthly magazine. He was also the founding President of Rhode Island Citizens for the Arts, the State's arts advocacy organization.
