| André Boudreau Actor - Block Island, RI |
|
| Andre’ Marcel Boudreau grew up in the Darlington section of Pawtucket. After high school he packed the car and moved to Block Island for a summer job. He soon met a mermaid and married her. They and their son Jacques currently reside at the Southeast Lighthouse, where Lisa is the Administrative Director....A long way from “Outside Providence”. Andre’ was struck by the production of Red Noses when he was in his late teens, and he still has his Red Foam nose that was given away at the play. “We would put a red dot on our nose on our ID’s when going to clubs, and when the door guy would look up we would have that foam nose on”. After pissing off plenty of Providence bouncers he tried out for his first play Barefoot in Athens at Providence's own Barker Playhouse back in the late 80's to, as he says, "get chicks." After that unsuccessful attempt, he wrote a play in the classic Greek comedy style named Friendly Enemies. Before winning "Best Actor" in the 2007 Providence 48HR Film Project, he portrayed a clam-fixated, cigarette addicted bartender and he continues to stick his neck out for anything film. While comedy seems natural to this native Rhode Islander, he enjoys dramatic roles most. “Comedy is easy, drama is where its at...you get to step outside of yourself, while at the same time reaching into yourself, to find that character you are portraying, everyone has had a dramatic event in their lives, some kind of sorrow, to be able to get that out, in front of the camera, to succeed at that, that is why I do films. It truly is a challenge. I’m not a serious person, just ask the nuns at Saint Cecilia’s, I think of them when I need to cry on film.” When not auditioning, acting, going to RIFC meetings, being a dad and a husband, Andre owns his own house painting company on BI. He is also performs wedding ceremonies, some with the clam suit, as a Christian non-denominational minister, on Block Island. He is Co-President of the Committee for The Great Salt Pond, a non- profit that provides environmental stewardship, and intervenes in inappropriate development projects, around the Great Salt Pond. He also runs one of 3 town pumpout boats that collect sewage from visiting boats in the Great Salt Pond. A job he has held for the past 12 summers... “I’m French and from Pawtucket...that’s all they had available with my experience.” You can view most of his work at his website.
