Shalhout
Entertainer
(Public Speaker) - Waterford, CT
|
Ahlam
Shalhout transitioned her life from the world
of science to the world of art when poetry
began coming to her automatically in her meditative
states. She was encouraged to publish her
first epic Recovering Stolen Dreams from a
dream. A few years later she published her
second epic For The Love Of My Dreams, encouraged
by similar urgings that led to her first publication.
After a brief
transfer to California, she returned to Waterford
to assess her new life stance. She resigned
from her technical position with the US Department
of the Navy and began a career as orator and
body, mind & spirit conditioning trainer.
She is a speaker
on the steps for re-claiming one's power &
contributing to a peaceful world. She integrates
poetry readings from her books with her presentations
for poignant illustrations. She has spoken
at St. John The Divine Cathedral in NYC, Long
Wharf Theater, Niantic Cinema, The Garde Theater,
Connecticut College, Eastern Connecticut State
University, Manchester Community College,
Hartford Seminary, Norwich Inn & Spa,
First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, Shoreline
Counseling, Inc., Southeastern Mental Health
Authority, Groton, East Lyme and Old Lyme
Public Libraries. She teaches Tai Chi and
leads the Creative Expression workshops which
she has developed.
Her most recent
creative venture involves framed photographs
of artifacts found during her meditative walks.
Each artifact is linked to a poem that best
describes the artifact. She currently displays
& sells her artwork at many venues.
Ms. Shalhout
believes that there is an artist voice inherent
in all of us, and she offers her talents in
cultivating those seeds by nudging the appearance
of creative blossoms within all who cross
her path. Her inspiration stems from communing
with nature. Her understanding of the True
Source of all art is best portrayed in her
poem "Artists' Creed":
|
"When you
can say you love your works of art
As though you and the Creator each
play a part
When you can say these words without
conceit
It is then that you know you are complete."
|
She currently
offers workshops that stimulate creativity
ultimately leading to recognition of one's
potential.
